
Jessica Michelle Chastain, born on March 24, 1977, is an American actress. Her main focus is on films with feminist themes. she has been awarded numerous awards such as an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award. Time magazine named her one of the top 100 influential people on the planet in 2012. Chastain began acting in her early years. In 1998, she made her debut on stage as Shakespeare's Juliet. After studying acting at Juilliard School, she was offered a talent deal by John Wells. She appeared as a regular guest on several television series, and took on the roles in several stage productions. Her film debut came in Jolene (2008) when she was 31 years old. In 2011, Chastain achieved her breakthrough with six films, which included The Tree of Life (2011), Take Shelter (2011) and The Tree of Life (2012). Chastain was also nominated for Academy Award nominations as a part of The Help (2011), in which she played an aspiring socialite. She also appeared in Zero Dark Thirty (2012) as an analyst for the CIA analyst. More commercial success was seen in the science-fiction films Interstellar (2014) and The Martian (2015), and the dark film It Chapter Two (2019). Chastain was recognized for her performance as a strong-willed woman, which was evident in the dramas Most Violent Year (2014), Miss Sloane (2016) and Molly's Game (2017). She was also a part of the television miniseries Scenes from a Marriage (1921). She went on to portray Tammy Faye Bakker in the biopic The Eyes of Tammy Faye (2021) with the Academy Award for Best Actress, and Tammy Wynette in the miniseries George & Tammy (2022). Chastain is the creator of production company Freckle Films, which was established to encourage the diversity of filmmaking, and is an shareholder in the soccer club Angel City FC. She is vocal about mental health issues as the issue of gender and race equality. Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo (fashion executive) is her spouse.
