Zoe Saldana, born June 19th, 1978, was the child of Asalia Nazario, along with Aridio Saldana. Her birthplace was in New Jersey's Passaic to Asalia Nazario and Aridio Saldana. Her mother is Puerto Rican as is her father, Dominican. The family she was raised with moved from Queens, New York and to the Dominican Republic when she was 10-years-old; they stayed in the Dominican Republic for 7 years. Zoe discovered a love for dancing while in the Dominican Republic. She began training in the ECOS Espacio de Danza Dance Academy, where she studied ballet and other forms of dance. The training she received was not just an excellent opportunity for this energetic and eager young person, but was also an excellent training for her future acting profession.
