April Ross

April Ross has won more than one Olympic medal. Ross is among only a handful of female beach volleyball players who be able to do so. In Tokyo in the coming days she will attempt to net her third medal alongside first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. Ross hopes to win more than her first Olympic medal. With her age of 39, this may be her final chance to take home the gold medal at an Olympics. Nevertheless she is confident that winning the gold medal is within reach. Ross, via NBC Boston, said that when the team performs well or at all they could win a gold. That's why I'm taking a little bit of luck too. Ross born August 22nd, 1982 in Costa Mesa California. She lived there along with her entire family. Along with participating in a variety of sports, Ross was also a student at Newport Harbor High School. She played basketball and ran track in addition to her indoor volleyball exploits as a prep athlete. She was clearly the best player in indoor volleyball. In her time at high school, she played middle blocker, outside setter and hitter in the court for volleyball, according to her college bio. The award was presented to her as the Gatorade National Circle of Champions player of the Year in 1999 for her achievements. Her skills in volleyball won her an Orange County Athlete of the Years trophy in 2000. Ross and Klineman started the partnership in 2017, however, Ross had been a beach-scene celebrity for a long time prior to. She has won numerous events, and one was won by the legendary player of volleyball. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 until 2013. Together together with Kessy Ross, she won a World Title in 2009 while competing internationally. They went into winning a silver at the 2012 Olympic Games at London. Misty May, Kerri Walsh and Kerri Jennings were the trio to beat for the gold. Ross Jennings replaced May-Treanor when she announced her retirement. Together, they won bronze medals in beach volleyball for the Rio Olympics of 2016. Ross was a Trojans player for the USC during her college days, years before becoming a professional. Her experience at USC was awe-inspiring. She was an All-American and Pac-10 Freshman of Year in 2000 as a young freshman. She was also one of the key players for helping the Trojans reach their way to the Final Four. Her personal life was tense after a devastating loss during her sophomore year, however, she was capable of achieving the All-American distinction. In her final two seasons with the Trojans they helped to win two consecutive titles. Individually she had cemented herself as an all-time legend by winning the 2003-04 Honda Sports Award as the most outstanding female college volleyball player. Ross, who was a USC international relations student was a volleyball star. Unfortunately, Ross mom Margie was not able to witness Ross's daughter reach the highest levels of beach volleyball fame. Ross's mom passed away due to cancer of the breast when she was in her sophomore year at USC. She continues to cherish her mother who died. Margie remains a constant source of inspiration for her on and off the beach.
